ABOUT US

At UM, we pride ourselves on being an open and inclusive company, and we are actively looking for people with new perspectives and backgrounds as we strive to be more representative of the world around us. Understanding and celebrating our differences – from our culture and work habits to our communication style and personal preferences – is essential to building an inclusive working environment in which everyone can thrive.  There are absolutely no barriers to success at UM, and all of our employees are valued, respected and given a fair chance to build a brilliant future with us, regardless of situation or background.

UM EMEA is an award-winning agency with real momentum and business growth. A progressive place to work that puts its people first to champion diversity and equality.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
This role is for an experienced Audience and Insight professional with experience in the research, media or creative industries. We would consider exceptional candidates with less experience and are especially interested in candidates who have forged a ‘non-traditional’ route into our disciplines.

OUR TEAM

The Audience and Insight team sits at the heart of UM EMEA, ensuring that real audience understanding is embedded within all our recommendations. The team has direct senior client relationships built over years of high-level delivery, helping them make the big investment decisions as they navigate complex marketplaces.

We also have a significant role in new business. We uncover the core insight that drives brilliant strategy, and identify the audiences that will make our prospective clients’ brands grow. We’re always ‘in the room’ for a pitch, telling compelling stories about audiences and insight to reinforce UM’s Futureproof positioning.

Finally, we are tools super-users. Whether that’s using Q to deliver bespoke data analysis, leveraging industry standard tools like TGI and GWI, or getting the best out of UM’s brilliant suite of proprietary tools. As a team we are a focal point for best practice in data analysis, visualisation and storytelling, and as such we have strong connections with teams throughout UM’s business.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

You will be responsible for delivering brilliant Audiences and Insight work for UM’s clients, with five core elements to your role:

1.Leadership across EMEA and Global projects on key client business and new business. You must be able to independently own projects, manage up and down the agency chain, and deal confidently with senior clients, agency counterparts and other stakeholders

2.Development of junior members of the team to embed best practice, inspire their progression and develop their expertise

3.Embedding best practice in the use of our agency toolset to ensure strategy is always based on a bedrock of solid data analysis and inspirational insight

4.Local market acceleration, training and building relationships with our counterpart teams in local markets to drive consistency across our region

5.Thought leadership that contributes to the culture and identity of UM EMEA, inspiring the team and wider agency with POV, case studies and great work

KEY QUALITIES & EXPERIENCE

  • Experience and demonstrated success in project managing and delivering primary quantitative and qualitative insight projects. Although we do undertake qualitative research, a quantitative skillset is our priority for this role
  • Experience with advanced analysis tools – SPSS or Q preferred.
  • Familiarity with the core syndicated tools in our industry: TGI, GWI, BARB, ComScore or their equivalents; an understanding of their methodologies; and the pros and cons of using them in different scenarios
  • An interest and point of view on what great research design looks like, and more importantly where we can safely compromise to increase our agility in delivering our analysis
  • An understanding and interest in marketing theory, and ability to apply this to our clients’ business problems to drive the right solutions
  • A true team player; always keen to collaborate, support the whole team to succeed, and is unafraid to challenge when needed
  • Confidence and gravitas in presenting to senior clients and in pitches, with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Someone who thinks outside the insight bubble – a curious mind who is constantly reading, learning and developing opinions on our discipline, the wider media industry and the future of audiences within it
  • Fearlessness in approaching new or untried ways of working, and the ability to think laterally to solve problems. As a team our ways of working are constantly evolving – we want you to be able to contribute to this constant forward progress
  • Ability to build trusted and credible relationships with senior clients, agency counterparts, and across UM’s network
  • Always immersed in what’s going on in culture, with a desire to better understand people’s motivations & behaviours in the world
