Role Description 

An exciting opportunity to join the vibrant UK planning team and play a leading role on some of UM’s top clients; Premier Inn, Emirates and Honda. You will play a significant role in the team, driving forward innovative thinking, as well as media planning excellence across digital and offline channels, and upkeeping the excellent client relationships across this account.

As a Comms Director you will be tasked with playing a leading role within the client-facing planning team. You will work closely with the Client Partner to deliver critical business whilst having the autonomy to manage key client business units within the team. You will play a crucial role in ensuring outstanding day to day delivery and media planning across Premier Inn, Emirates and Honda.

You will have excellent people skills, be confident in leading a piece of business and will look to nurture and develop talent within your remit.

You will need to build excellent relationships with clients, wider stakeholders, internal specialist teams and those working within your own team. You will have an ambition to get involved in the broader agency culture as well as building UMs reputation in the wider industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates a deep understanding of the media landscape in the UK
  • Demonstrates strong media credentials and possess a current knowledge of industry trends
  • Place the client’s needs at the heart of all delivery and building strong, meaningful relationships with client peers
  • Develop a contact plan to ensure regular client interaction and understanding of current satisfaction levels
  • Support the client partner in building the right process and procedures for effective day to day management
  • Work seamlessly with the Strategy and Specialist teams to ensure brilliant thinking is turned into brilliant implementation
  • Share knowledge and understanding across the team and wider agency
  • Ensures the team continue to deliver to these standards and are learning from your example
  • Provide timely and accurate billings projections each month to the account lead
  • Identify opportunities and build strategic recommendation alongside specialist business units to grow revenue within your group
  • Collaborate and build close working relationships with third parties and Media
  • Inspire, coach and guide teams in the delivery of fantastic work and the transformation of the business
  • Ensure robust performance management (appraisals, goal-setting, ongoing feedback) as well as reviewing structures and job roles, identifying critical talent and succession planning value and how would you make that happen. It is time for you to be the challenge and change within our business.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Excellent in front of clients and leading meetings and presenting to stakeholders
  • Confident in challenging our clients and knowing when to ask the right questions
  • Experience in managing a team and enabling the development of those around you
  • Is experienced and well versed in ATL and digital media and able to clearly articulate how communications are able to deliver a positive impact on our client’s business
  • A dedicated and motivated individual, who helps create and maintain a powerful team dynamic
  • Highly personable with a collaborative spirit, who develops good working relationships internally and externally with ease.
  • Good communication skills, familiar with developing strong client and industry connections
  • Positive and proactive with a curious and creative mindset
  • Highly ambitious, with a thirst for continually learning and delivering an improvement UM product.
